The Morgan Academy Former Pupils Association are delighted to share the news of Morgan Academy's exciting curriculum and community initiative, "Morgan's".
Morgan’s Café and Retail gives students a safe, supported, and familiar space allowing work-experience focusing on retail, enterprise, and customer service. This project is providing tremendous opportunities, especially for those young people leaving school who may not be planning to pursue college or university education. With Morgan’s, students can participate in a dynamic curriculum that is practical and relevant to today’s local economic and labour market and one that offers students valuable qualifications and transferable skill-sets. The school believes that this project will be invaluable in developing young folks’ marketability, confidence, and aspirations plus being of mutual benefit to the school’s project and community partners who are providing funding, training and potential employment opportunities.
The school’s vision is that having this community space, which is part of the school but is not in the school building – a real life ‘classroom’ where students can learn and engage in effective social enterprise – can have a major personal impact and be of tremendous ongoing value.
Morgan’s

In January last year, the three-year lease on this retail space at 1 Pitkerro Road commenced. The property is directly adjacent to the school - as shown below - and has become Morgan Academy’s retail/enterprise/ community space. Following a period of refurbishment and curriculum design, Morgan’s is now fully fitted, providing a bright welcoming café with customer service and barista training for students and opportunities for local community activities.
MAFP’s should be aware that The Association is supporting this project with significant funding. Local FPs can provide additional support by dropping in to enjoy a refreshment.
